In Japan on Valentine's Day girls make chocolate for the boys they like. When I found that out I instantly loved that idea. Making chocolates for someone is so personal and sweet, in more ways than one! I almost never have someone for Valentine's Day but I started to make chocolates each year regardless, this way I am able to share them with my friends and family. Also, honestly, myself. Because I am a girl and being alone on Valentine's Day is never ideal.
Anyways, this Oreo Truffle recipe is simple and easy to make for a beginner in the kitchen. Plus it tastes amazing and is a sure way to impress a certain someone.
This time I didn't decorate the cookie balls because I didn't have money for white chocolate. But I love doing half the batched dipped in white chocolate with a milk chocolate drizzle, then the other half vice-versa.
Oreo Truffles
Prep: ~30 minTotal: ~2 hours
Yields: 40-45 balls
Ingredients:
30 Oreo Cookies, crushed finely8 oz Cream Cheese, at room temperature
16 oz Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate, melted
Directions:
Crush the Oreo Cookies finely then mix with the Cream Cheese until fully blended. I don't have a Kitchen Aid Mixer, so I just mix them with my hands.Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Using a 1 tsp scoop make balls from the mixture and place on the baking sheet.
Cover the cookie balls with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. I tend to wait about an hour.
Melt the Baking chocolate according to the directions on the packaging.
Remove the cookie balls from the refrigerator and discard the plastic wrap.
If needed, reshape the cookie balls.
Gently lift the cookie ball from the chocolate and gently shake off the excess chocolate.
Slowly slide the cookie ball from the spoon back onto the baking sheet.
Repeat till all cookie balls are coated with the milk chocolate.
Quickly decorate with sprinkles or white chocolate drizzle!
